High-carbon fly-ash as a binder for iron ore .
During production, dried iron-ore pellets are required to have crushing strength of at least 22.2 newtons (5 pounds force) per 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) diameter pellet. The pellets are then sintered at temperatures up to 1300 C and must not exhibit a significant degree of spalling or cracking. Pellets will therefore be tested to determine whether acceptable dry crushing strengths can be achieved.

Cold Bonding of Iron Ore Concentrate Pellets: .
Iron ore concentrate pellets are traditionally hardened at high temperatures in horizontal grates and grate-kiln furnaces. However, heat induration requires tremendous quantities of energy to produce high-quality pellets, and is consequently expensive. Cold bonding is a low-temperature alternative to heat induration. Pellets can be cold bonded using lime, cement, sponge iron powder, and ...

Iron ore - Wikipedia
Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The ores are usually rich in iron oxides and vary in color from dark grey, bright yellow, or deep purple to rusty red. The iron is usually found in the form of magnetite (Fe 3 O 4, 72.4% Fe), hematite (Fe 2 O 3, 69.9% Fe), goethite (FeO(OH), 62.9% Fe), limonite (FeO(OH)·n(H 2 O), 55% Fe) or siderite (FeCO ...

Influence of flux additives on iron ore oxidized .
Six additives, i.e., limestone, lime, magnesite, magnesia, dolomite and light-burned-dolomite, were added for investigating their influences on the pellet quality. For green balls, adding lime and light-burned-dolomite makes the wet drop strength decrease firstly, and then increase with further increase of additive dosage. Ca(OH)2 affects the bentonite properties at the beginning, but the ...

Iron Ore | Geoscience Australia
High-grade hematite ore is referred to as direct shipping ore (DSO) because after it is mined, the ores go through a relatively simple crushing and screening process before being exported for use in steelmaking. Australia's hematite DSO from the Hamersley region in Western Australia averages from 56% to 62% iron. Like hematite ores, magnetite ores require initial crushing and screening, but ...

Carbothermal Reduction of Iron Ore in Its .
Carbon-containing pellets were prepared with the carbonized product of agricultural wastes and iron concentrate, and an experimental study on the direct reduction was carried out. The experimental results demonstrated that carbon-containing pellets could be rapidly reduced at 1200 to 1300°C in 15 minutes, and the proper holding time at high temperature was 15 to 20 min.
